Living A Magical Life

Why 2016 Was The Worst But 2017 Will Be Better (Probably)

You might have noticed that 2016 has been, uh…a little extra.

There are, of course, many factors that contribute to such a maelstrom of shit. Many angles from which we can look at this and ask, WHY? What is going on here?? WHAT in the SAM HILL is happening??

The angle that I’m interested in talking about today is numerology.

Here’s the dilly-o: the theory is that we go through 9-year cycles of growth, and each year has its own particular energy. If you were to add up the individual digits of any given year and continue to add until you got a single-digit number, then you’d have the number of the year.

So: 2016. 2+0+1+6 = 9

Yeah — that means 2016 is the very last year in a 9-year cycle.

A 9 year is the end of an era.

It’s a shake-down.

Much of what we once held onto as secure is ripped away from us, or torn again and again until it’s unrecognizable.

Like a Vulcan’s precious logic during pon farr, the biologically imperative time of mating that comes around every seven years.

Spock says "It strips our minds from us...the blood fever"

from Star Trek season 2 episode 1: “Amok Time”

Poor illogical pon farr-afflicted Vulcans. It’s scary when the very foundations of your identity become shaky and unreliable.

If 2016 marks the end of an era, then 2017 heralds the beginning of a new one.

2+0+1+7 = 10 ; 1+0 = 1

Christina of describes the 1 year as:

A journey of change, new beginnings, independence and becoming who you really are.

We must not go back to sleep.

Our presence is requested.

We can either show up and do the work, or we can allow the river of shit to carry us along its chosen course.

Let us not go back to sleep. Let us not passively allow ourselves to be carried along.

Let us consciously, presently, actively shape the course of our lives.

be as present as Kirk sniffin’ a flower or Spock watching Kirk sniff a flower.

2017 is a year to work on self-awareness and embrace change.

Easily said, not as easily done.

That’s why we must make the choice to seize this chance at a new beginning. New beginnings don’t just unfold the way we want them to: we must forge the path. We must set intentions, evaluate our trajectory, and choose a new direction.

Ask questions. Are you where and who you want to be? What kind of help benefits you? Do you have the tools you need?

There are tools all around us which we can use to lay a good, strong foundation for the next year and those to come after.

We can look at our personal numerology and astrology; we can sling tarot cards. We can go deep with emotional clearing, shamanic journeying, ritual and ceremony. We can call upon our helping spirits and our mastermind team. We can lean upon our sources of comfort, be they friends, family, fiction, fashion, or fishing; whatever you’re into.

This is the key to ensuring 2017 is better than 2016:

We must actively cultivate our independence, our new beginning, our chance to realign with our true selves.

I’ll be spending all of January meeting one-on-one with folks on Skype, asking those questions and employing some of those tools to set you up for success in 2017.

Our mission: to understand what you’ve been through, illuminate where you’re going next, and make a plan for how you’re getting there.

You can book your own New Year reading by clicking through this link (opens in a new window).

I’ll also be spending January screaming to myself about BBC’s Sherlock, which is going to make history by finally allowing John Watson and Sherlock Holmes to acknowledge their mutual romantic feelings and KISS on TELEVISION. It is going to be so good my friends.

Gay love and New Year readings — starting 2017 off RIGHT.
